10 Reasons You Should Be Watching ‘W’

I found myself thrown into mourning post-W. Maybe it wasn’t a ratings powerhouse like other dramas aired this year, but nonetheless, wormed it’s way into my heart with it’s crazy time-traveling plot and the lovable Kang Cheol from the get-go. Each week, I waited on pins and needles for my Wednesday-Thursday fix. I re-read episode recaps, re-watched episodes, and I scoured my brain for possibilities of where the plot would lead. (Did I miss a clue? OMO, how did that happen and why was I dumb enough not to see it happen?!)  Because, let’s face, if there’s one thing that could be expected from W, it was to expect the unexpected. Just when you were on the trail and thought you had it all figured out, a new variable created a fissure between the two worlds and our characters fate hung in the balance.

Just what did the writer have in store for hero and heroine? Well, if you haven’t watched W yet, I won’t dare to spill the beans. Instead, you can click below and find 10 reasons why is worthy of your next binge-watch.

Drama Ramblings & Real Life Updates

Hi readers and fellow drama fans!

It’s been a long time since I last posted – so long that it feels like years have passed by. I’m aware that statement is grossly exaggerated, but it really feels that way too me. Real life hasn’t been too kind. Between work, car hunting woes, and some family issues going on, it’s been nearly impossible for me to sit down and blog. I find enough free time to watch my dramas, but it’s at the expense of much-needed sleep, so I made the executive decision to push off blogging until my heart was itching to write and I had time to do it. Thanks to Labor Day weekend here in the US, I have off today, Monday, so there’s nothing like an extended weekend to help me recharge my batteries.

Slowly but surely, I’m going to get back to my blogging routine, but until that happens, I put together a little post with some of the dramas I’m watching. I had to keep it short and sweet, but I warn you that there are spoilers, so please continue on at your own risk if you’re not up to date with any of these dramas.

K-Drama Recommendation: ‘W’

You know that feeling when a drama gives you goosebumps and all of those tingly, first time jitters? There’s nothing more thrilling than finding the k-drama key to your heart, and if I do say so myself, is most definitely the key to mine. While I’ve watched plenty of amazing dramas that have forever found a permanent place in my heart, is a whole new league for me. It’s fun, brilliant, action-packed, quirky, fun to theorize, and so much more that I don’t know how to explain it in words. For fellow book lovers, it’s the equivalent of your book boyfriend coming to life.

Okay, I may be overdoing it a tad bit, but that’s how excited I am by this drama. It leaves me in a constant state of loss for words. I tried so hard to make this recommendation appealing, but sometimes it’s hard when you’re still fangirling on the inside after watching episode 4. Oh, and that preview for episode 5. What an agonizing wait until next Wednesday!

Nonetheless, if you’re looking for something different to watch, is a great choice. It was penned by the excellent Song Jae Jung, who has written one of my favorite time-traveling romances: Queen In Hyun’s Man. And yes, Queen In Hyun’s Man has been my desktop wallpaper ever since I watched it in October of 2014. Some dramas have staying power – both with your mind and with your heart. is quickly becoming one of my favorite dramas of the year and I think it will have that same staying power.

Watching it as it airs is possible, but you’ll need Viki pass in order to do it. You can still watch this series without it, but you’ll be three weeks behind anyone who has Viki pass. I don’t have time to do full episode recaps, but Drama Beans is covering this drama and they’re doing an excellent job with it. I’m personally working on a small post that will be a bit of an overview of the series (as well as questions and theories I have), which I will start to work on this weekend. Until then, you can find out more about W here.

Review: Shining Inheritance

When I watch any kind of series or movie, there are a few key ingredients that need to be combined for me to thoroughly say I love it. And even if a drama has all of the key ingredients, sometimes they don’t mix well with other ingredients.

Overall, I thought Shining Inheritance was a good series that got better as it aged. There were some bumps in the road that drove me crazy, but I thought this drama was nicely balanced and didn’t become a soap opera. (One thing I can’t stand about any series is a crazy plot twist that only exists to create more unnecessary drama.)

At the end of the day, I think everything blended well with Shining Inheritance, but I’m not sure I “loved” it as much as I wanted to. (This doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. It was actually pretty awesome and had a strong re-watch value, but I wasn’t as emotionally invested in the characters as I usually am.)
