It’s official! Tiff and I have been keeping this information to ourselves as we ironed out the kinks and planned, planned, and planned some more. If you’ve been listening to our Weekend In Dramaland podcasts, you may have noticed that we’ve expressed interest in going to KCON NY for the first time ever.
Neither of us have been to any kind of Asian event or convention for that matter, so we’re complete rookies in that aspect. Non the less, I really wanted to work this event into my schedule. I have knowledge of k-pop, but there’s so many artists debuting these days that it can be hard to keep up. That’s why I was actually thrilled that NY chose a “rookie” theme this year. No, Nu’Est and Seventeen aren’t rookies, but the remaining line up certainly are.
This event brings a ton of rookies to me and they’re all in one place. Of course, I’ve been trying to listen to playlists and familiarize myself with some songs, but it’s been a project. I’m more partial to Ateez and The Boyz of the rookie groups. Say My Name by Ateez is straight up addicting, ya’all.
So what does all of this mean?
Tiff and I will be talking KCON NY related things a lot early next month, so posts of that nature may win out over drama posts. I hope you all don’t mind. To be fair, between planning, packing and a leaking water pipe in our basement (it was flooded and we had to get all of our pipes replaced, yikes!) I haven’t watched too many dramas. Nor have I got out a podcast episode this month, but it’s coming. Trust me.
So, here’s a quick overview and breakdown.
Tiff and I live in Pennsylvania, so we’re taking a bus to the city. We will arrive in Manhattan at 3:00 PM on July 4th. Here’s to hoping my hotel room is on a high enough floor that I might be able to see a glimpse of the fireworks. We’ll be staying all weekend and won’t be departing until Monday, July 8th. Yes, we’ll be going to both days of convention and both days of the concert. KCON NY may be unfamiliar to us, but Tiff and I really wanted to spend a few days in the city to check out places like Koreatown and experience more Korean culture.
I think it’s going to be a great experience, so I just wanted to share this news quickly. If you’re interested in seeing pictures and hearing about our experience, please let us know what you think below in the comments. I might try to do a giveaway with something from KCON.

Stay tuned for a Man Crush Monday post tomorrow as it’s been a while!
